Presentation Series

The Charting the LifeCourse Framework was created BY FAMILIES to help individuals and families of all abilities and all ages develop a vision for a good life, think about what they need to know and do, identify how to find or develop supports, and discover what it takes to live the lives they want to live. Individuals and families may focus on their current situation and stage of life but may also find it helpful to look ahead to think about life experiences that will help move them toward an inclusive, productive life in the future.

Even though it was originally created for people with disabilities, this universally-designed framework may be used by any person or family making a life plan, regardless of life circumstances. A core belief of this intervention is that all people have the right to live, love, work, play and pursue their life aspirations in their community. We show you how we utilize the tools of this program with our clients and help you develop interventions to suit your clients or student's needs.  We also teach interventions from Person Centered Thinking tools which are tools that are designed to build relationships and reach individual goals.

Communication is important for connection and trust building. What happens when our clients, kiddos or students share too much or even disclose abuse, neglect or other concerning issues? You will learn the 3 levels of disclosure and how to maintain healthy boundaries around communication. You will learn how to model this behavior to those you serve and help foster connection while maintaining professional roles. You will receive pre-made scripts to use in tough conversations and feel more confident in addressing, referring, and documenting incidents that occur. Best of all, you will feel more connected and respected to those you serve!

This training dives deep into the often "high crisis" lives of many of our adult learners. We will explore the impact of trauma on the brain and this impacts learning. You will learn what research tells us about designing or modifying classroom interventions to maximize success. We will look at how to have difficult conversations, how to leverage Small Picture/Big Picture goal setting using the Charting the Lifecourse materials. We will offer an emotional regulation plan that can be used in a variety of ways. We will also touch on setting boundaries in the classroom that promote healthy social skills.

Presentation Series 49% of entry level workers come from low-income families. Entry level occupations are typically defined as positions in retail, food service, housekeeping, and care positions (Nursing aides, daycare etc.) These employees face particular barriers in traditional employment settings. We will see how companies have increased employee retention and turnover and saved money by utilizing some research-based interventions regarding transportation, childcare, communication and training, and even how and when the employee is paid. See how improving relationships between staff and management lowers stress, in creases joy, and ultimately leads to businesses providing better care and service.
